Reading

You have to listen closely, but Navy is trying to read (aka memorize) one of her favorite books for her Aunt Melanie.  The page she is "reading" says, "Is our pumpkin up in the apple tree, goose?....No."

Holiday World

Monday was Navy's first trip to Holiday World.  I was looking forward to her going for the first time because I have such fond memories of going as a child (and an adult :)

Uncle Nick, Aunt Jessica, Kenan, Easton and Langston, as well as Cousin Emily and Owen met us there.  We arrived before everyone else, so Navy rode a few rides before we headed to the water park.

She liked riding the rides, but she didn't like sitting on them, waiting for them to start.  She would cry until the ride started.....very loudly.

But then once the ride started, she enjoyed herself!

Navy had the best time in the water park.  She loved going down the water slides with Mommy and Daddy.  She only took a 20 minute nap, which wasn't quite enough, but long enough that she kept going the rest of the day without having a meltdown.

We can't wait to go again next year!

The Beef Festival

Ok.....Let me explain.

One of my best friends from college lives in Harrodsburg KY and for the past several years they have had an event called The Beef Festival.  This year Jonathan, Navy and I joined in the festivities and cheered on Amy's husband, Mike, and his team, Fattened Calf BBQ, in their cook-off.  Mike's team won 1st Place in Backyard Burger, 2nd Place in Spicy Sauce, 3rd Place in People's Choice and Overall Grand Champion.  Each team allowed the public to sample their entries, and all I can say was that there was a lot of beef....hamburger, sirloin, brisket, etc....I don't think I will be eating beef for a while :)

They also had some really neat stuff for the kids to do.  Navy got to see a cow for the first time.  She liked them, but was a little intimidated.  The calf kept trying to lick her fingers but she wanted no part of that!  They also had some sheep and a maze for kids to wander through.

The best part of the weekend was being able to spend time with Amy and her family.  Navy loved Addie, Amy's daughter, and wanted to walk with her and hold her hand whenever they were together.  I wish we lived closer to one another :(
